It’s Me. It’s Me

“Let the wicked forsake their way and the unrighteous their thoughts;” Isaiah 55:7

There’s an expression that ‘everyone is the hero of their own story’. That means that most of us are far more critical of others than we are of ourselves.

We believe we have good reasons for what we do. So we rationalize. At the same time we fail to extend others that same grace and mercy. So we criticize.

Unfortunately, when we view scripture this way it becomes a hammer that we use to beat others instead of a measuring stick we use on ourselves.

We call on everyone else to change without asking ourselves what we need to change. What patterns of thought and behavior do we need to alter, discontinue, or replace?

The testimony of the scriptures will never have power in our lives until we apply primarily to ourselves.

As the old song goes, “It’s me. It’s me O Lord, Standing in the need of prayer.”

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
