“You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance.” - Psalm 32:7
We don’t think about having a hiding place when we are feeling safe and secure. We don’t think about having a hiding place when we are strong enough to handle what’s coming.
A fair reading of Psalm 32 suggests that it was written by someone who was facing major problems that they had largely brought onto themselves.
What the writer understood is that they could still go to God. The writer understood that they needed to recognize and accept responsibility for their parts. Finally the writer understood that had to learn new ways and be disciplined enough to follow them.
Our deliverance from the troubles we’ve made begins with our willingness to trust in God enough to learn and follow new ways.
