It’s easy for us to tell ourselves the things we want to believe. It’s easy to tell ourselves comfortable lies. It’s easy for us to overlook the truth right in front of us when the truth demands that we make a change.
If the Jesus that they had seen arrested, tried, convicted, tortured, and executed was somehow right in front of them, walking and talking with them, their lives could not go on as before. Everything would have to change.
What are the truths that are right in front of us that we don’t dare to speak, even to ourselves? What truths about ourselves and our situations, if acknowledged, would require us to change and change everything?
