Not Everyone Will Believe in You
“But others sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine." - Acts 2:13
On the day of their breakthrough, on the day of their miracle, on the day when God was moving mightily in their lives, and they were speaking the truth, there were people who still didn’t believe in them.
Despite all the evidence in their favor, some folks held their backgrounds against them. "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?.” They were nobodies from nowhere who had done nothing in particular to distinguish themselves in any way other than being faithful to the way.
They didn’t let other’s doubts stop them from using the gifts God had given them. They could have been silenced. They could have even doubted the truth of their own experience. But instead they continued to use their gifts “as the Spirit gave them ability.”
Not everyone is going to accept, affirm or praise us. Some are even going to deny the gifts that are readily apparent in us and dispute the validity of the work we are doing.
We can’t let this stop from being who we are empowered and enabled to be. We can’t let their lack of affirmation stop us from doing the work we are called and capable of doing.
When others fail to believe in our gifts, we must always believe in the one who gifted us.
