Stop Cheering for the Apocalypse: Prayer Part 7

There are far too many people who use the prophetic warnings found in the scriptures as the basis of their own fantasy revenge stories against their enemies, against the people they consider evil, against the people they just don’t like.
Yes, the prophetic voices repeatedly warn societies and civilizations steeped in exploitation and injustice and held together by violence that they will inevitably come to ruin.
Yes, the prophetic voices also repeatedly warn individuals who are driven by their fears, and greed, and lust, and gluttony that they will never find peace and satisfaction. Their lives will be ruined in one way or another.
Occasionally, the prophets advise that it’s too late, and the folks will have to face the consequences of their actions. But it is never the desire of scripture or prophecy to see a cataclysm come. Everyone suffers then, the innocent, the guilty, and everyone in between.
Just the opposite, God desires to see the whole world saved from this fate. Further, the scriptures promise that every society that turns from evil will be healed, and every individual who trusts their footsteps to the way of love will be delivered.
So stop cheering for the apocalypse. Start praying and working towards the repentance, liberation and deliverance, and reconciliation that God desires for us all.
