The Difference Between The Faithful And The Unfaithful
“All of these died in faith without having received the promises, but from a distance they saw and greeted them.” - from Hebrews 11:13
Many before me have referred to this section of Hebrews as the Faith Hall of Fame. It references many folks throughout the Hebrew Scriptures who remembered as people of great faith. What is the difference between the faithful and unfaithful?
The faithful people were not without their faults. There were certainly aspects of their lives that we would not lift up as positive examples. To say they weren’t always good role models is an understatement of the highest order.
The quality the faithful folks shared was an ability and willingness to envision a better future and a better world not only for themselves and their families, but also for folks in distant lands that they would never meet and who would live long after they died.
Further, the faithful folks committed themselves and their lives to doing whatever they could to make the vision a reality. Even if they would never personally experience the vision, they welcomed it from afar.
May we live our lives in such a way, that our names can be added to the list.
