Called To Care

“Woe to those who are at ease in Zion and for those who feel secure on Mount Samaria.” - Amos  6:1

There’s a big difference between contentment and complacency, between gratitude and entitlement.

Some of us have gotten very comfortable. We have food to eat and a safe place to sleep. We have friends and or family who care about us. We have a reasonable portion of our health and strength.

These are all good things for which we should be grateful and maybe even proud in the cases where they were hard earned.

But if we get so comfortable in our own lives that we forget about those who are struggling, those who are suffering, we have truly lost our humanity. We have lost our souls.

We must not get comfortable knowing there are hungry people, knowing there are folks facing exploitation and injustice, knowing there are people struggling with loneliness, fear, and depression. Woe to us indeed if we do.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
