From Every Nation And Tribe
“I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every people anyone who fears him and practices righteousness is acceptable to him.” - from Acts 10:34-35
Too many of us believe that God needs defending and that the gates of heaven need guarding. We take it upon ourselves to decide who is worthy and unworthy. We keep trying to decide who is acceptable and unacceptable. As a result, we end up with deeper conflicts and endless division.
Our efforts in this area are unnecessary. God has already decided who is acceptable. From every nation and tribe anyone and everyone who fears God and practices righteousness is acceptable to God. Anyone and everyone who fears God and practices righteousness is acceptable to God.
Fearing God means living life with a sense of awe, wonder, and appreciation. It is our recognizing that we a small part of something far bigger and greater than ourselves. It is living with the humility informed commitment to keep learning, growing, maturing, and improving.
Practicing righteousness means abstaining from intimidation, exploitation, and abuse. It means walking with integrity and treating everyone justly. In particular it means feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, caring for the sick, welcoming the stranger and remembering the prisoner.
No matter a person’s creeds and confessions, no matter a person’s ritual and traditions. From every tribe and nation, everyone who fears God and does what’s right is acceptable to God.
