Loving God,
You see fear in us that only protects itself.
You see desires that curve inward.
You see the greed that keeps us hoarding more.
You see how we measure our wellbeing
by money,
by status,
by recognition,
by power.
We tell ourselves, “Just a little more.”
But a little more is never enough.
Help us seek to store up a different kind of treasure.
Help us store up kindness.
Help us accumulate compassion.
Help us practice generosity.
Help us choose service.
Root our wellbeing not in what we possess,
but in Your love shared in, among and through us.
Give us a peace that cannot be stolen.
A hope that does not depend on circumstance.
