Loving God,
We confess how easily we keep accounts.
We remember what was said.
We remember what was taken.
We remember what we believe is still owed.
We say we want freedom,
yet we hold onto the ledger.
Teach us to release.
Not to deny harm.
Not to pretend wounds did not matter.
But to surrender the right to collect.
Close the accounts we hold against others.
And close the accounts we imagine You hold against us.
Free us from resentment that binds us to the past.
Free us from shame that tells us we are still defined by it.
Form in us a love-centered way of life
where debts are released,
where new beginnings are possible,
and where no account remains open.
Make us a people who live differently —
together.
