When the Thirst Keeps Coming Back

We are thirsty for something.
But often we don’t quite know what it is.
So we start looking for it
in the places the world tells us it might be found.
Maybe if we had a little more money.
A little more power.
A little more recognition.
A little more security.
We keep going back to these wells,
hoping this time it will be enough.
But no matter how much we drink,
it is never quite enough.
The thirst returns.
After a while we begin to see it.
Some wells may give us a drink for a moment—
but they cannot satisfy the deeper thirst within us.
But there is another well.
A deeper source.
A living water that does not simply quench our thirst for a moment—
but becomes a spring within us.
A life rooted in the flowing love of God.
